Behold Buccaneer's Den!
Nowhere else will you find a worse collection of unruly freebooters and dastardly pirates... and nowhere but here will you find a better crew to sail the Crystal Sea.
After greasing some dirty palms we've learned that Lord Malagar has boarded a ship towards The Gates of Nazeru. Hiring a crew, however, will have to wait, as an enemy fleet is heading toward us. Ahoy!

Buccaneer's Den is 5th level of Kingdom Rush: Frontiers. The stage has an entry point at the enemy ship. At wave 8, an Executioner will appear from the eastern jungle, chop down the trees, and turn it into another entry point.

Strategy

General[]

As the only major area effect dealers in this challenge, Buccaneers are crucial for winning and must be treated with utmost care. Shield your Buccaneers with your hero and reinforcements and try your best to not let Buccaneers engage in melee. If that happens, let them retreat so that they start throwing bombs again – or throw Rain of Fire.

In the beginning, you will need at least one Buccaneer on the western side and at least two on the eastern side.

Everything before the Buccaneers must be low-level Archers and/or Mages (alternating those is advised).

Aslevel progresses, build more Mages and Archers first (but not behind the Buccaneers as that would be a waste of money), then get all Buccaneers available (for the western side, the three from the further SCUMM Bar should be enough), and finally upgrade your towers one by one. Mages should be upgraded first as they help deal with armored enemies.

Use Rain of Fire at the eastern chokepoint when most enemies try to get through it.

Upgrades and Hero[]

It is strongly advised to acquire all upgrades that are allowed for this challenge. As for your hero, choose one who is good at stalling (e. g. Alric, Cronin) or crowd control. Anyway, the hero must be at their max level too.

Towers[]

Start with maximum amount of low-level Archers and Mages (preferably alternating them) and then upgrade them one by one, giving priority to Mages and towers in the middle line.

  • The achievement "THE BLACK PEARL" that can be unlocked on this level is a reference to Pirates Of The Caribbean, the name of Captain Jack Sparrow's ship.
