Farmers are the first and the most weak troops the player can summon with the 'Call Reinforcements' spell. They spawn in groups of two (three if the player has purchased the Premium content) and act the same as any other soldiers, engaging non-flying enemies in melee, stalling their advance and dealing minor damage. Given the equipment available, the farmers are only effective against the most weak hostiles, e.g. Goblins and Wulves, being no match to Orcs which survive a one-on-one confrontation but lose a lot of time fighting. If by some miracle farmers survive, they retreat after roughly 1.7x spell recharge time (used to prevent players from assembling mobs in strategic choke points).

However, farmers can always hold the enemies down for awhile, especially if put slightly away from their adversaries, as the latter stand still waiting for the appointed trooper to get in line with them before trying to kill him. That can give the player some time or allow the Towers to concentrate fire on certain targets (if the spell is used to separate enemies). With the first upgrade in the Reinforcements path, they become "Well Fed Farmers" that have more health and do more damage.
