The Arch-Druid Henge is a level 4 Artillery Tower in Kingdom Rush: Origins, unlocked in stage 7, Rockhenge. Arch-Druids can store up their ammunition when idle and then release up to three rocks at once, like the Archmage Tower from Frontiers.
Description[]
Arch-Druids have total control over nature, commanding earth, beast and spirit alike.
Compared to the other level 4 tower, the Weirdwood, the Arch-Druid Henge attacks faster and its upgrades give it superior crowd control. However, the damage is the same from the Menhir Circle, requiring some support when facing stronger enemies.
Abilities[]
Sylvan Curse[]
Curses an enemy for 5 seconds, causing a percentage of all damage dealt to it to also affect nearby enemies.
(Cooldown: 16 seconds)
Level | Cost | Percentage of Damage |
1 | 250 | 35% |
2 | 250 | 70% |
3 | 250 | 100% |
Runed Bears[]
Invokes a mythical runed bear to block and fight enemies.
Level | Cost | Number of Bears |
1 | 350 | 1 |
2 | 350 | 2 |
HP | Heal Rate | Damage (1.0s) | Armor | Respawn |
---|---|---|---|---|
250 | 25 | 20-40 | 20% | 20s |
The Runed Bears have different names, as with all soldier units.
Range[]
- 27% wider than the Level 1 Stone Circle
- 12% wider than the Level 2 Boulder Circle
- Same as the Level 3 Menhir Circle
Cost analysis[]
- Total DPS: Average damage / attack speed * number of enemies hit
- Cost Efficiency: Total cost / DPS
Note: DPS is calculated without Hardened Boulders.
Damage Efficiency Comparisons[]
Stone Circle | Boulder Circle | Menhir Circle | Arch-Druid | Weirdwood | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cost | 120 | 340 | 660 | 1035 | 1040 |
DPS | 3.2 | 8 | 13.3 | 23.5 | 24 |
g/DPS | 38 | 42.5 | 50 | 44 | 43 |
Strategy[]
General Strengths[]
- The faster fire rate means more consistent damage vs the Weirdwood's slow fire rate which means if even a single shot misses, it is a massive decrease in DPS.
- When there are no enemies in range, Arch-Druid Henges will store up to 3 boulders, and when any enemies enter his range, it will launch all of them at once with a slight spread.
- With their ability to summon up to two bears, Arch-Druid Henges are able to provide a small amount of stalling, which can alleviate the necessity to build barracks in tower spots that could be better used by other towers.
- Faster fire rate also means more utility gained out of Shocking Impact as the slow duration is the same despite the amount of damage done.
General Weaknesses[]
- Arch-Druid shouldn't be upgraded too quickly in early waves, because there are overflow enemies that can overwhelm the boulder. Barracks are recommended to slow them down.
- The bears have very poor stats for their immense cost, as a single bear has less total HP than even Warden Barracks, while costing more. They should only be used to supplement a very important choke point where no more barracks can reasonably be built. (Warden Barracks: 270 total HP, 260 gold, 1 bear: 200 HP, 350 gold)
- Arch-Druid can only target enemies on the ground. However, flying enemies flying right above the boulder explosions can still be damaged.
- Fast targets, like Blood Gnolls, are often missed. Therefore the Arch-Druid needs barrack support to hit more of their shots.
Arch-Druid + Golden Longbow Combo[]
A combination of Sylvan Curse and Hunter's Mark abilities can do up to double damage to all enemies around the curse until the cursed enemy dies. When supported by barracks and/or Runed Bears, it can cluster many enemies around the cursed enemy. This strategy can quickly dispatch commonly spammed enemies such as Satyr Cutthroats, Sword Spiders, Spiderbroods and Gnolls. However, the downside is that this requires some luck for Sylvan Curse and Hunter's Mark to hit the same enemy, at roughly the same time.
