The Leap Dragon is an enemy found in Kingdom Rush: Vengeance, first encountered in Northerners' Village.
Overview[]
Vikings mounted on dragons that can fly over enemies for a short time. (Cooldown: 5 seconds, duration: 2 seconds, speed factor: 1.8)
Fat blue dragons with small wings mounted by minute Northerners, these are capable of "leaping" for short periods of time to avoid troops and artillery. Their health is average but they do sport medium armor, which makes magic towers more useful at dealing with them. Treat Leap Dragons as upgraded, armored Quarry Workers - except for the fact that archers and mages can still target them while flying. Oftentimes, they will appear in pairs, which makes them slightly less easy to block compared to Quarry Workers. When they change stances between flying and walking, incoming shots tend to be nullified and not connect with their targets.
Strategy[]
- Coming from the entrance, they will always land at the same locations, so you can put upgraded soldiers at the right spot and block them. They will not be able to fly away while blocked.
- Support your soldiers with a strong mage like the Infernal Mage and you should be good.
- If available, the Orc Shaman is very useful, since its stun will cause a Leap Dragon to immediately fall to the ground. They also have a longer than average range.
- The stun from Shaolin Temples will keep them grounded as well. Interestingly, even when they are on the ground, the monks will use their Shoryuken animation to attack them.
- You can also put barracks near the exit to catch stragglers, but it would be most reliable to use multiple sets of soldiers, especially since they often come in groups.

Trivia[]
- This enemy has two different death animations depending on whether it was killed on land or in the air. On land it will slump over as the rider falls off, in the air it and the rider will explode instead.
- This enemy looks like a Gronckle from the movie How To Train Your Dragon.
