Pillagers are giant bandits wielding magical swords that allow them to bypass armor.

Overview[]

Magic resistant criminal warlords that can dispatch scores of soldiers with their infernal blades.

Unlike most giant enemies, the Pillagers' durability comes from their high magic resistance; other than that they only have a rather mid-high 2800 HP. In addition to that, instead of the physical area attack so common to giant enemies, Pillagers have an area magic attack (Flash only). This means that they can hit multiple soldiers at the same time while ignoring their armor. Due to this, they can easily decimate even the very tough and durable Paladins much faster than other enemies (Flash only). Combined with their magic resistance, Pillagers are brutal to any setup without enough funding for raw physical DPS, which is useless against Raiders.

Strategy[]

  • Because the Pillager has high magical protection, unlike other giant enemies, low-level Mage Towers are not a good way to deal with them, but the Arcane Wizard's Death Ray never loses its usefulness against these giants. Sorcerer Mages can also polymorph them.
  • Sniper Shot, Poison Arrows and Wrath of the Forest are the bane of this crook's existence. They can all deal ridiculous amounts of damage to them, either by instakilling them, or stalling and damaging them.
  • Use a Hero with high HP and armor to hold them off. On Flash, Malik Hammerfury would be the best hero due to the fact that Pillagers deal magical area damage.

Trivia[]

  • Pillagers are one of seventeen enemies in the series that have the iconic bear growl sound on death.
  • A total of 27 Pillagers appear throughout all of the levels in Kingdom Rush.
