This article is about the level in Kingdom Rush. For the tower in Kingdom Rush: Vengeance, see Rotten Forest (Tower).

"Summon your troops, General! The forces of darkness are relentless in their attacks against our beloved kingdom, and we must take action. Reports indicate that the area known as the Rotten Forest is indeed rotten; as a portal to the netherworld has opened in the midst of the woods.
The dead find no rest in this forest, and vegetation turns against any who wander into it. You must lead your forces into the Rotten Forest and get to the root of the problem!"

Rotten Forest is the fifteenth stage in Kingdom Rush. It requires the Premium Content in the Flash version. It was originally introduced as a stand-alone level, but since the release of Fungal Forest it is now part of a mini-campaign. It is stand-alone in flash, since Fungal Forest will not appear after a player completed this stage successfully.

Strategy

General[]

  • Swamp Thing has area ranged attack that can easily kill your reinforcements and hero, so try to kill them as quickly as possible. It can often be worth sacrificing some Reinforcements to stall a Swamp Thing temporarily, allowing you to drop a Rain of Fire directly on top of the beast and inflict a massive amount of damage.
  • Rangers Hideout's Poison Arrows damage ignores armor and reduces regeneration from Swamp Thing. Combined with Wrath of the Forest to stall and further damage enemies, it's a lethal combination.
  • In later waves, there are more Tainted Treants, so it's suggested to build more Magic Towers than Archers.
  • Don't be afraid to sell towers that aren't working.
  • At the start of the level, Towers require quality over quantity. Build a few high levelled towers, rather than building lots of low levelled ones.

Upgrades and Hero[]

  • Use heroes that have a combination of high health and high armor.
  • If you don't have enough stars to upgrade everything in the Upgrade Tree, don't worry about upgrading barracks (since they are not recommended in the level as if they die, Husk spawn from the Poison Pool).

Towers[]

  • At the right side of the battlefield, it's best to use Archers as all of the enemies that spawn from that entrance are Demons, and all of them are resistant to magic.
  • Because Tainted Treant spawn randomly, magic towers are the best to deal with them. The Sorcerer Mage is the best option, due in part to its faster attack speed, but also its innate curse ability to not only lower enemy armor but also target a different enemy in range if one is already cursed.
  • An Arcane Wizard near the exit can help deal with already weakened enemies, and later its Teleport and Death Ray are essential.
  • Resist the use of Melee towers and Elementals, as if they die, the Poison Pool will spawn Husks and Swamp Things, respectively.
    • If you find you are in need of Barracks, then Holy Order are the best option, with Shield of Valor a must.
  • Place a Tesla x104 on corners where it overlaps with a lot of the path, so it can strike multiple enemies at once with Overcharge.
  • With the proliferation of tough enemies (notably Tainted Treants and Swamp Things), instant kill upgrades such as Death Rays and Sniper Shots are highly recommended.
