Savage Brutes are special enemies only appearing in Ma'qwa Urqu. They have no encyclopedia entry.

Overview[]

In Campaign mode, a Savage Brute spawns on waves 5, 7, 10, 13 and 14. On Steam and Android, it spawns 52 seconds after the beginning of wave 3.

A Savage Brute always spawns in the westernmost hut in the village, carrying a damsel whom he intends to feed to the volcano. He will then proceed to the volcano, occasionally taking brief breaks. When he reaches the crater, he will throw the damsel into the lava: the sacrifice somehow awakens the volcano, which will fire several big fireballs at the player's soldiers, dealing 100 area damage (20-30 area damage on Flash)

Strategy[]

  • Killing them before they can complete the sacrifice should be top priority. The volcano can wreak havoc on your ground troops and will cost you a lot more than briefly diverting reinforcements or your hero to deal with them.
  • Savage Brutes are out of reach of most towers, though reinforcements and heroes can be placed in their path, and can kill them fairly easily. An Archmage Tower or Crossbow Fort placed in the closest strategic point to the path can hit the Brute when he first spawns. If placed at the right distance so they can get a few ranged attacks off before engaging in melee, a single pair of fully upgraded reinforcements can dispatch them unassisted.
  • In the Heroic Challenge mode, a Savage Brute spawns in every wave. In the Iron Challenge mode, they do not spawn - the volcano activates on its own. (On Steam, a Savage Brute spawns at the beginning of the Iron Challenge, so the activation can be prevented.)
  • Though being immune to instant kills, Savage Brutes are actually very easy to kill with most heroes, having surprisingly low HP and damage for an enemy of that size. Reinforcements can stop them for a surprisingly long time, even at the lowest level. Placing a Crossbow Fort or Archmage on the top-right strategic point and stalling the brute with reinforcements is a good way to easily take him out.
  • Heroes able to teleport (namely Nivus and Dierdre) are especially effective here. Combined with reinforcements, they can zip in, weaken the Savage Brute / buff the reinforcing soldiers, so they can finish him off, and get back to hold the front line in a matter of seconds.
