This article is about the enemy in Kingdom Rush and Legends of Kingdom Rush. For the tower in Kingdom Rush: Vengeance, see Shadow Archers.

Shadow Archers are strong enemies that can attack soldiers from a distance using bows.

Description[]

Deadly accurate archers that will shoot at nearby soldiers in their path.

Cautious generals should be aware of the approach of a group of Shadow Archers. They are mostly just annoying, but can also be potentially dangerous. Their strong bows can quickly turn soldiers and reinforcements into mincemeat, opening the way for other enemies to march through. The Dark Knights they usually travel with are countered by magic towers, but the archers themselves contain a low level of magic resistance, allowing them to stay alive a little longer, but upgraded mages still make short work of them.

Strategy[]

  • If the player's defense is barracks-heavy, these enemies must be kept away from barracks soldiers through micromanagement and efficient blocking.
  • Once the player has the Throwing Spear upgrade for their reinforcements, small groups of Shadow Archers may easily be defeated by simply placing reinforcements near the group (within spear range) with at least one medium-strength tower nearby for support.
  • Another good strategy is to keep soldiers at the end of their rally point, and when the archers start shooting at them, moving them into melee range to stop the Shadow Archers from shooting (works best with groups of three). Also, one has to be aware of more archers and/or other ranged enemies such as Necromancers who may attack while one's soldiers are busy with the first group of archers.
  • Engaging them in melee will stop Shadow Archers from obliterating weaker troops, and they're relatively weaker in melee than ranged.
  • Shadow Archers tend to group closely together when attacking, so use high-level Artillery to defeat them in one fell swoop. The Big Bertha can dispatch groups of them quickly, especially with the Cluster Bomb upgrade.
  • Barbarians can last a good while against them, and their Throwing Axes ability allows them to deal some damage back, though not efficiently. They will not be able to handle Shadow Archers on their own, but are a good way of stemming the flow.

Trivia[]

  • A total of 216 Shadow Archers appear throughout all of the levels in the game.
  • Game files name: "enemy_shadow_archer"
