Stonebeard Geomancers are large, slow-moving dwarves capable of turning themselves into stone in combat. They are first encountered in Golden Brewery.
Overview[]
With their ability to morph into stone when they're fighting, Geomancers can soak up tons of damage.
Stonebeard Geomancers are rather hulking, muscular dwarves that are slow-moving but tough enemies by themselves. When blocked, they'll turn themselves into stone, which multiplies their current and maximum HP by 3.3 times (1320/1650/1980/2228 max HP); in effect, this ability transforms them into a giant enemy and reduces all of their damage taken by 3.3 times. When no longer in combat or stunned, they'll automatically become flesh again. Because of this, Barracks can be detrimental against Stonebeard Geomancers as they will cause them to take far less effective damage.
Strategy[]
- Try to nuke them down with high damage before they get to your troops. Level III and above Archer or Mage towers work best.
- Instant Kills as well as Asra's Spider Bite can take them down quickly.
- Stall them only if absolutely necessary (eg. they're getting close to the exit). Try to move your units away from them, so they won't get their health buffs.
- You can put one or two sets of upgraded soldiers near the exit to catch any Geomancers that make it through, along with the Quarry Workers that weren't blocked earlier on.
- It's strongly recommended NOT to use Veruk, with these in as he can't do much in hand to hand combat, and will most likely die even with abilities. His goblin reinforcements will often trigger the stone form, and his hero spell has only limited use until it becomes free protection for the Geomancers.
- If you know the Geomancer is going down one path, you can put ranged units and heroes off to the side, so that they can get in some damage without going in melee.
- Try to use alternative delaying methods - the Goblin War Zeppelin's Tar Bomb, Oloch's Ultimate Spell, Mortemis' Call of the Haunted and Tramin's Flashbang all slow them down effectively.
- In this regard, the Orc Shaman is extremely useful against them, as the stun will cause them to lose their stone form, even if blocked. This will allow them to take a lot of damage from other sources.
